About Us
Central Coast Judo has served the region for more than 40 years, first as Five Cities Judo; then as Central Coast Judo - having changed its name to better reflect the greater Central Coast area and its wide ranging membership (some traveling from as far away as Atascadero, Santa Maria & Guadalupe). Throughout the years our club has produced many champions and outstanding judokas.
Our mascot, the Phoenix reflects our rising from the ashes to be reborn: a fire destroyed our training hall (Japanese Cultural Hall) on May 1st, 2011. It's effect touching not only our club but the lives of hundreds of others not to mention destroying a piece of Central Coast history.
Our sensei, Greg Rubio along with his dedicated students worked to preserve the club for the better part of a year following that tragic event. Due to Greg's busy schedule, he has passed the torch onto club members Troy Wicker, Ken Guge, Chris Balsillie, Llyn Hunter, Jody Dowell & Nathan La Montagne to maintain the club and carry on the legacy.
Central Coast Judo welcomes you to study Judo and become a part of our family.
